The Rev. Wendy Pantoja
A new year! A clean slate! How fortunate we are to have several calendar markers that give us a reason for a new beginning: a birthday, first day of classes, first day of the congregational year, a new calendar year. This is a time to look back at our lives during the past year, make peace with the challenges that visited us and celebrate the joys that came our way. It is also a time to look forward. How can we turn a challenge into a treasure? What more can we do to promote further transformation within ourselves?
This is also a time to look ahead at what is left of this congregational year and start planning for the next one. On the weekend of January 4th, the Reverend Janet Onnie will be leading the board on its annual retreat. On the 6th, she will share from the pulpit the board’s hard work.
This month we are fortunate to begin work with a financial consultant from the UUA. This comes to UUCM at no cost as a result of the commitment made with the Diversity of Ministry Team and for being a fair share congregation. He will help all of us understand better our finances and guide us in the development of healthy stewardship practices. Your help is urgently needed as we all strive to have a most successful annual budget drive. You can be one of the faithful volunteers that serve on the Stewardship Committee. You do not have to be a numbers person. Creative, fun-loving people are most welcome. The only requirement is that you bring your unbridled love of UUCM and your desire to make it a beacon of liberal religion in Miami for another 75 years. Please let one of the board members or Jessi know of your interest.
Happy New Year! ¡Feliz Año Nuevo! Bonne année!
