July 6th: Religion Is Everywhere and We Are All Ministers

July 6th 2014
– Derrick Mustelier
Religious experiences happen all around us every day.  A stimulating conversation on the beach.  A joyous celebration of the birth of a nation--or a person.  An emotional musical performance.  A rousing General Assembly.  An exhilarating sporting event.  A scripted wrestling show. Singing together. Worshipping together.  In Derrick's last service before he moves on to California to attend Starr King School for the Ministry, we will explore how each of these experiences is religious in its own way and how we minister to one another every day.

This worship service takes place at 11:00 AM.

In 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. gave his sermon titled "The Drum Major Instinct". In this service we will explore his interpretation of this instinct as it relates to our human need to be out in front of the parade "banging the drum", and how we can truly be in service to others by turning this instinct in ourselves towards doing good in the world.

This worship service takes place at 11:00 AM.
